About Lucidity Workplace

Workplaces involve humans. Managed well they unlock enormous innovation and value. But in today's fast-moving world shaped by AI, diverse workforces evolving regulation and constant technological change, staying ahead in people management and effectively managing your risks demands expert insight.

Lucidity Workplace was founded by Julian Clarke out of a genuine passion for helping businesses of all sizes confidently navigate this complexity. Drawing on over 25 years of legal and HR leadership experience, Lucidity Workplace brings strategic insight to tackle a wide range of people issues with confidence.

Lucidity Workplace specialises in:

  • independent workplace investigations of misconduct, harassment, bullying, fraud and whistleblower matters
  • human resources advice on employee relations, organisation design, mergers and acquisitions, and culture and talent management
  • employment, workplace relations and discrimination legal advice.

Julian Clarke is Lucidity Workplace's Principal and provides the majority of services. However, we can draw on a range of experts to assist where a particular matter is not within Julian's skillset.

About Julian

I've always been curious about understanding people and behaviour, and helping individuals, teams, and organisations optimise their performance.

After 12 years as an employee relations lawyer in private practice in the UK and Australia, I transitioned to executive Human Resources roles. I have extensive experience across:

  • employee relations
  • agile and business transformations
  • managing complex employee issues, including investigations and termination of employment
  • acquisitions, divestments and integrations, and
  • talent management and development.

I have tertiary qualifications in law, labour relations law and psychology.

People who work with me comment on

My passion for people and employee experience and belief that engaged employees deliver more value for customers and shareholders.

My courage to address difficult issues with kindness, and to build trust through an honest communication style.

My ability to solve complex business problems with pragmatic solutions, drawing on innovative approaches and others’ experiences and being able to switch from strategic to detail quickly.

My low ego approach to leadership – collaborating, not competing, to get the best outcome for as many stakeholders as possible.

My story

I grew up and was educated in the UK, starting my career as a solicitor in London. At the age of 25, I came to Australia for “two years” and stayed, now calling country Victoria home. When not working, you’ll probably find me in the kitchen, at one of the Macedon Ranges’ many great restaurants and pubs, or managing volunteers for Daylesford’s ChillOut Festival. I am married to Nathan and have two fur babies.
